Human

Humans are the first mortal sentient creatures. Their father is Fate, the god of death. It is because of him that humanity is forced to live a mortal life. The mother of humanity is Isabella, the goddess of life. It is because of her involvement that their life is possible at all.

In the beginning, when only the gods and Chaos existed, it became evident that in the great conflict it was crucial that the power of death be wrested from Chaos. It was too powerful a tool to be left unlearned, and so Fate became the ever-dying never dead. Fate displayed a power over death. This was a power that no other being had claim to, and though his body suffered terrible corruption, Fate had succeeded in conquering death. Isabella took pity on Fate, for his divine power weighed heavy on him like a curse.

Isabella was blessed with the gift of life. Her power was healing and creation. Everything she touched became whole again. Fate was no exception. Every time the two got close, Fate became whole again.

Over time the two deities fell deeply in love. It was their union that birthed humanity. At first the two believed that they had conquered the curse of Fate. The first man, Adam, lived for three hundred years.  During those three hundred years, Fate and Isabella sired countless other children. In time the children matured and had children of their own. During that time humanity was not without death; accidents happened, but Fate was always able to grant them life once more. But in the three hundredth year of his life, Adam died of age. Fate did all he could, but in the end he was powerless to bring his son back. Adam’s soul had surrendered.

At that time it became evident that humanity was doomed to live a mortal life. Over time, other humans fell to the curse never to return to the world of the living. The life expectancy of humanity dwindled to half of Adam’s.
Humans are one of the oldest races. They are also the most populous race. Over the centuries humanity has mingled and in other ways changed, so that now they are also the most diverse of all of Panthes’ inhabitance.

Humans lost their immortal lives to the curse of fate, long ago. They generally live to about 120 years old.

Advantages
Jack of all Trades: Humans have always shown themselves to be the masters of adaptation. Humans are a very versatile group that is capable of excelling in more than one area of focus. As a result, humans choose two skill paths during character creation: a primary skill path where they can purchase skills at cost, and a secondary skill path where they may purchase skills at one and a half the written price. Any odd build cost as a result will be rounded up. Skills from the other two paths may still be purchased for double build as usual.
